Magix (2016) for Windows 7 8 10: I always get black videos only

rudolf-schiesser wrote on 11/7/2017, 1:37 PM

Dear friends, I'm a Magix newcomer.
I'm trying to digitalize Videotapes, to archive them on my PC. The system requirements are fully met.
By  https://www.codecguide.com/download_k-lite_codek_pack_full.htm  I downloaded the  K-Lite_Codec_Pack_1360_Full.exe (47 MB)  on my PC, which installed itself into ProgramFiles(x86).
At the end of the digitalizing procedure, after "Export successful", with VLC or Windows Media Player I always get a black movie only (sound is OK instead), the same as before downloading the k-Lite (no other encoder had been downloaded before).
Question: how can I successfully connect the downloaded encoder to the Magix program?
With many thanks! Rudolf S (07nov2017)

Hi

. . . . I downloaded the  K-Lite_Codec_Pack_1360_Full.exe (47 MB)  on my PC . . .

I would recommend you un-install the codec pack - it is not necessary and is a potential cause of codec conflicts with the software.

Which program are you using to capture the video, Magix 2016 is not a valid name of the program - see under Help, About . . . for the full name and the version number.

If the program is a 64 bit version, then you need the 64 bit drivers for the capture device (make/model?) you are using.

How are you connecting the capture device to the VCR?

Dear Mr John EB,

thank you for your kind reply.

I have uninstalled the k-lite codec pack following your advice.

The version of my Magix program is Ver 6.0.1.10 (UDP3) UG Code 8534 KA1

The system requirement is a 64 bit system, as mine is.

My physical connection is:

Videorecorder - SCART - 3-poles (red,yellow,white) - Magix interface - USB - PC

Thank you again for your kind help.

With best regards! R.Schiesser

Hi

Thanks for the info, however we still need additional information or clarification:

  1. Full name of the program as found under Help, About . . . ?

  2. Which video standard is the VCR using - PAL or NTSC?

  3. Is the recording standard correctly set to match the VCR - incorrectly setting this will give a black/white image.

  4. What settings are you using for capturing the video? Please be specific with the options you are selecting - screen shots will help.

  5. Windows version and is it up to date?  Press and hold down the Windows key and the R key - in the dialog that opens type in winver and press enter.
