m2ts audio refuses to work. Error explained.

jake-h wrote on 12/26/2021, 4:35 PM

Whenever I import a video (m2ts) It asks me to download an audio expansion package. But, when I do download it, nothing works. The playback button switches to the pause button and glitches. Even the loading isn't even shown. It just skips, pretty much saying that it did not install this expansion. I even used the space bar over the m2ts video and nothing works. I am only referring to the audio, not the video. I switched to a new pc, but this error has never happened before. I double-checked the other things installed and the m2ts plug-in actually isn't there. I am not sure what's wrong. I opened a blank project and it does the same glitchy nonsense. Please help.

@jake-h

Inevitable question: since you chose "Other Products" as the software, exactly which program do you have?

Hi

. . . . Whenever I import a video (m2ts) It asks me to download an audio expansion package. But, when I do download it, nothing works . . . .

From your previous post you were running Movie Edit Pro 2016.

If you are still using this version of MEP then the download package which installs the Dolby AC3 Surround Sound decoder/encoder which is no longer available due to a licensing issue between Dolby and Adobe, which has had a knock on effect for all video editing software manufacturers.

There are 2 options available:

  1. Upgrade to Movie Edit Pro 2022 which can import AC3 surround sound video, however export as AC3 Surround Sound is no longer supported - if you decide to go down this route do note that the hardware requirements are stricter than MEP 2016.

  2. Convert the .mts4 files audio from Surround Sound to AAC Stereo using a video converter such as Handbrake.

I keep forgetting to add the name. It was movie edit pro 2016. I updated my software.
