Lost Sound for Keyboard/Scale

dmstar1956 wrote on 3/11/2024, 5:36 PM

After recording a midi loop on track one, I was getting ready to record a loop on track 2 and activated the Scale feature, but for some reason there was no sound when I pressed a key. I rebooted my computer but that did not help. I loaded a project and there were no issues with sound in the Arranger when playing a song. Only with the keyboard/scale is there a sound issue.

I hope I'm just overlooking something obvious.

Hi

I can replicate the issue, if I do not arm the track for MIDI REC, otherwise no problem.

Well, I checked to make sure I had MIDI REC enabled on the track in question, but I'm still getting no sound when I try to play the keyboard/scale. But sound during playback in the Arranger is fine.

Hi

. . . . a midi loop on track one, I was getting ready to record a loop on track 2 . . . .

Looking at the image above, you are trying to record over the top of an existing track, you need to arm the next empty track (2) for MIDI REC before you can hear anything.

If you want to re-record track 1, delete the object on it.

You say I'm trying to record over track 1. How? I have midi rec enabled on track 2. Definitely not trying to re-record track 1. So with all due respect, I'm not following. Why do I get normal playback sound in Arranger?

Can you think of anything else that might be causing this? I'm pulling my hair out right now because I really wanted to record something in midi and then this happens. Out of the blue for no reason with everything else working fine. Never had this problem before.

Oh, also--naturally I remember this right after exiting--the keyboard in Analog Synths, won't play sound either, so that's another relevant fact to be aware of.

@dmstar1956 Sound during playback but no sound during playing means that you very likely don't have an ASIO driver selected in the Music Maker program settings. This is necessary to hear music while playing.

Not according to the image you posted, you do not have track 2 armed for MIDI REC..

You're right. I do. But it still doesn't work, even when I enable midi rec on track 2. Any why would the Analog Synth piano not work? The one that's built into the synth interface if you enable it.

I'll check to make my ASIO driver is installed properly.

dmstar1956 wrote on 3/12/2024, 3:59 PM

Bingo! It was my ASIO driver. Somehow I had changed it to Wave Audio. I may have done it outside of the program in Windows settings.

Anyway, thank you for your help, John EB and SP.
