Lost Instrument/Soundpool Credits with Update

Sepultrator wrote on 12/13/2020, 6:24 AM

There wasn't a notification when I let MusicMaker update today (after some time away) that I would lose my instrument & soundpool credits in this version. What do I do? Is there a way to downgrade? I can't believe there's no accounting for this and no warning. I paid for those credits! I didn't know they would be taken away by an update.

Hi

. . . . There wasn't a notification when I let MusicMaker update today (after some time away) . . . . I can't believe there's no accounting for this and no warning. . . .

Assuming that it has updated to MMM 2021 and you were using an earlier version - there would have been two warnings/requests for the install to progress, and you have to take at least two positive actions:

  1. acknowledge the dialog by clicking the Update/Upgrade button
  2. select whether to replace the old version or install alongside

The MMM 2021 is in effect a new install as the older version would have been a 32 bit version, MMM 2021 is the first version to be 64 bit. In this case assuming you are logged into the Store, the Extra Content should be under the Downloads tab waiting to be installed - it has been updated too - this should include any Soundpools, Instruments or features you have purchased.

Thanks for the reply. I don't think you quite understood my problem.

I understand the update process. I always let it update to the latest version. What I did not get a warning about is that my soundpool and instrument credits which I had been saving and had not redeemed would disappear with this new version.

In trying to ascertain the reason as to why my unredeemed credits seemed to have disappeared I found this thread: https://www.magix.info/us/forum/missing-instrument-credit-in-store--1254236/

This explained that the developers of the latest version did not include support for these credits.

The user in that thread was able to redeem his credits because as it turned out he still had the previous version on another computer that had not been updated yet. He was able to launch the application on that computer in order to redeem those credits.

Not realizing of course that I would lose my credits, which was 1 instrument credit and 6 soundpool credits, I didn't redeem them before updating. If there had been a warning that said "Warning: You have unredeemed soundpool and instrument credits which you will not be able to use after this update" then I would have selected an instrument and soundpools prior to updating but there was no such warning.

According to the referred thread the only way to redeem them is to have the older version of MusicMaker.

If there is no means provided by which to install an older version then my instrument credit and soundpool credits which I paid for are lost. I have been holding onto those credits for quite a long time as I have had a difficult time choosing.
