Looking for a CD authorizing short cut

Clint.Beachwood wrote on 1/30/2024, 5:25 PM

Hi... I've been using Sound Forge Audio Studio 13 (Version 13.0 (Build 45) 64-bit) for years and it works great, I love it! My current project is burning 100+ sound effects to a CD. Each track is 5 - 10 seconds long. When using the "CD authorizing" window layout for projects with only 10 - 15 tracks (for example), I simply highlight the track and drag it into the "Track List" window... one at a time. If I do that with my current project, it will take forever! My question... is there any way to move ALL the soundwave tracks AT ONE TIME into the Track List window? I've tried highlighting them all, but that doesn't work. Any suggestions? Thanks Clint

@Clint.Beachwood

I can't help with your direct question, sorry, but I'm pretty certain a fully-compliant Red Book CD cannot contain more than 99 tracks.

Or are you actually creating a Data CD, so not one that would be playable in a CD Player?

Hi

What is the intended purpose of the Sound Effects CD, eg is this a resource for others to use in for example videos, podcasts etc?

Hi Jeff & John. I was not aware of the limited number of tracks allowed on a CD. I've never burned a CD with that many before. I assume I would have gotten an error message when I attempted to burn. Good to know.

Yes, I do a "Surf Music" podcast. I want to be able to easily add fun, goofy sound effects between songs, etc. I've been doing the show since 2010. This will be a regular playable CD, not a data CD. It will easily be under 74 minutes in duration. I have 4 CD players at my disposable when doing the show.

Back to my original question... any idea of multiple tracks into the Track List window at one time as opposed to dropping them one at a time? Thanks.

@Clint.Beachwood

Thanks for the additional information.

Unfortunately, I, and I'm pretty certain John is the same, don't have any version of Soundforge so really can't definitively help. However, can you not select all the tracks (Ctrl+A, or click on the first one, hold down Shift and click on the last) and drag all of them at one go to the Track List window?

Hi @Clint.Beachwood, Are you referring to the CD "Track List" window in 'View> Metadata'. There, you should be able to drag a file (or multiple files) to the window. Though I have not tried it specifically in AS-13.
As was stated, the maximum number of CD tracks is 99.
FWIW, I still use 'CD Architect' in the rare instance someone requests an Audio CD. which IMO is faster/easier than the internal utility in SF AS or Pro.

Hi

To add to @rraud comment

'you should be able to drag a file (or multiple files) to the window'

Updated post.

Assuming you have the sound effect loops all on one track under Tools, Criteria for "Find breaks" there is the option to automatically create CD index markers

If you do not have this option and assuming you have the sound effect loops in one folder - importing them all all in one go should create Markers at the start of each loop and also automatically add them to the CD track list - see images below:

Note: I have SFAS 12.6 which is where the images are from.
