Hi

When you access a file from an application, eg MEP, Windows does all the file handling and checking.

If the file exists and is able to be opened, ie not locked by another application, then what is called the file handle and locking information is passed to MEP so that it knows where to find the file and that it has an exclusive lock on the file.

In your case the lock is not being passed which would suggest that the Windows thinks the file is not locked when it is in fact locked.

Was the file created or edited in another application eg Sony Vegas?

You will need to contact Magix support as this problem has also appeared in the German forum

Hi

Releasing/changing permissions on the file will not change the lock status of the file.

Try this   http://windowsxp.mvps.org/processlock.htm  - in your case do not delete the file but copy it to another file location and then try using the copy.
