All these bells and whistles and no option to capture a live input from the microphone?
Is the only option to record and playback (like Audacity), or am I missing something? Or is that another software component?
What do you mean by 'live feed' (Zoom or other meeting app; from, external mix console, ect)?
What is the microphone plugged into (internal or external soundcard and/or preamp)?
Confirm 'Microphone' is enabled as the default input source in Windows sound settings: "Sound> Recording". Disable the other record sources.
Then go to the Sound Forge "Options> Preferences> Audio" menu ' and select the audio device with the microphone in the 'Record' tab.. You may have to click 'Reset' before selecting the record source.
Prior to recording, open "View> Record options" menu, then enable record ready (Transport> Arm) to view the record levels. If you want hear the mic, you may have to enable 'Monitor' or 'Auto' in the Record options window.
