Latest Video card compatibility list for Pro X5 and Movie edit Pro 2014

Trying to determine best NLE software purchase for our school computers that are presently outfitted with Nvidia GTX 780 video cards. I can find no specific compatibility (up-to-date) listings for latest nvidia cards for Magix anywhere within the Magix site or forums. There has been many issues with other NLE software such as Sony Vegas 12, etc specifically with the newer Kepler architecture used in newer 700 series video cards where GPU acceleration can not be utilized in many operations such as rendering. Seem s to be a common problem, yet Nvidia and NLE software providers are not responding to requests to questions regarding this very popular Nvidia series card and answers addressing this and possible solutions.  I know it is not best to choose hardware before software, but in our case all of our workstations were donated to us and very new high end units.  I am very attracted to Magix and believe it would be the ideal program for students entering into Video editing and production, but need to have consice confirmation on video card compatibility.

Hi

As you quite rightly say you have the cart before the horse .

With respect to the GTX780 these are designed as gaming cards and the Keplar architecture causes problems for a lot of NLE programs when trying to use CUDA to render video with, in the end, on my previous PC, I dumped my NVidia card and reverted to an older model .

If you do not use CUDA, ie Hardware Acceleration, then I would not expect there to be a problem with MEP. This you can test using the trial version of MEP from the Magix website.

For future computer acquisitions I would recommend switching to Intel processors with integrated HD graphics using OpenCL for rendering - after a lot of experimenting I find them faster than NVidia for rendering - I would expect some members will disagree with me.
