Latest patch for Movie Edit Pro 17 HD

jparker wrote on 11/5/2011, 12:49 AM

I'm having issues playing back DVDs created with MEP 17 on an older Panasonic unit. The DVD plays fine on a newer unit (another brand) and on my computer, but it freezes and returns to the main DVD menu on the Panasonic (won't even read through the initial video). I've found references to several patches, but can't seem to find them. Any advice is appreciated. Thank you.

What "type" of DVD discs are you using?  DVD+R, DVD-R, DVD Single Layer, DVD Dual-Layer, what manufacturer?

Unfortunately all these "differences" can have a substantial effect on whether or not a particular DVD player will play a particular DVD.  Especially this can be a problem if you are using dual-layer discs in an "older" machine.

In order to download any available patches you can do this either via the program itself (Help>Update) or by signing into your MAGIX account on the Support web site and then checking for Updates.

The discs are Memorex single-layer DVD+RW discs. I've tried both methods you listed for checking for MEP 17 HD patches, but the Help / Online update function indicates that I already have the latest version, and there are no updates that display under my Magix account. However, I've seen version numbers from other users that are different from mine. I have v10.0.0.0 (C1).

Hi

I think your problem lies with the fact that many older DVD player units fail to recognise DVD+RW or DVD-RW discs.

My old Panasonic DVD recorder will not play them giving an error 011 when trying to read them .

No amount of patching MEP will solve this problem.

John
