Everytime I open the Magix music maker program it kills any stream I have open and I can't watch streams in the background. Does anyone have a fix for this haven't found one yet.
I assume you are using an ASIO driver for MM, e.g. "Magix Low Latency"? If so, that is the reason.
ASIO drivers, where available, are by far the best for serious audio work but they do have one limitation that is inherent to them (i.e. you can't bypass it) they allow for only one audio source to be used at a time.
However, theoretically, ASIO4All (on which the Magix driver is based) will allow for two simultaneous audio input sources but this is certainly not guaranteed to work.
You could try one of the other driver types listed in MM, e'g' Direct Sound, but this can introduce problems of latency if you are e.g. overdubbing a vocal track to an already-recorded backing track.
My solution to this is to download a demo of FLStudio. This gives access to the FLStudio ASIO driver. This will allow sound from other programs while Music Maker is open. It's what I use as I have FLStudio.
okey so thanks to everyone that has gave some input/direction on what the problem was I have figured out that my creative sound card has a ASIO as well(Creative SBZ Series ASIO and it works. I haven't seem to get the ASIO4ALL to work but stumbled on the other fix while messing around. :)) okey guess I jumped the gun there now it seems to be crashing a lot. Will play around with it for a bit. Will give Flstudio Asio a shot soon.
Okey so finally update I removed the ASIO4ALL and error seem to have stopped. So guess I can start mashing things together.
