Can you possibly provide some more information as to how exactly the MIDI keyboard isn't working? Is there any chance you're getting a MIDI input signal into the program, e.g. indicated by the little green "MIDI" light under the master volume controller in the main screen flashing when you're hitting keys, but the problem is merely with the fact that you're not receiving any audible output from the software instrument you have armed? If so, this may just be a matter of driver settings.
Bring up the Music Maker program settings ("P" key), and make sure in the "Audio/MIDI" tab that you're ASIO or WASAPI drivers. The other driver types won't produce any audible software instrument output in "stop mode". (However, if you actually perform a MIDI recording, you will notice MIDI input will get recognised and MIDI notes will be recorded.)
Ok so I looked everywhere on the internet, apparently the M-audio keystation 49e (silver) isn't completely compatible with Windows 10. I went and got a newer keyboard and it works without any issue
