jerky video when editing

Hi im new to this program .Movie editor pro 16. When i import a video for editing the video is very jerky . almost to the point where it can not be edited. Im using windows 10.Any idea's?

Do you mean 16 or 2016 - if 2016 please use the fullname to avoid confusion with the older version 16.

We need more information otherwise we are guessing.

What is your computer specification?
Windows 10 - was this a clean install or an upgrade?
If an upgrade from Windows 7 or 8 was MEP installed before or after the upgrade?
What is the video format and resolution?
