izotope elements and rx asking for serials?

jsims006 wrote on 11/28/2020, 8:27 PM

Hello I purchased Vegas Pro Suite 18 which includes Sound Forge Pro 14. I am having a problem with the izotope elements 9 and rx 7 plugins. I can see them in the "organize favorites" window, and when I double click them it is asking for an activation.

I checked my purchase emails and do not have serials for these 2 products, but they are suppose to be included with Sound Forge Pro 14 according to the product page.

What do I need to do to get these activated? Am I missing something?

I am very sorry to inform you @jsims006, that according to Magix sales, the third-party plug-ins that are normally included with Sound Forge Pro-14 are not part of the Vegas Pro / Sound Forge Pro package deal. Otherwise iZotope's RX and Ozone have separate activation codes and need to be activated separately through iZotope.

If it is any consolation, iZotope currently has a Holiday Bungle Sale that includes both the Elements plug-ins (RX and Ozone) as well as other Elements series plugs and more for a very low price ($49 usd)

In any case, welcome to the Magix Sound Forge users forum .

Hi, After many hours of trying to get my iZotope plugings working, which I assumed to get with Vegas Pro and Sound Forge, I now see above mail. Is it indeed true that with this package the program installs everything when clicked 'to install', but it is not functional this way as a license is fully missing? I also searched long time to find if I could have missed a license code. This would be very disappointing and this should have been messaged during install that this plugin is not valid when Sound forge comes via Vegas... Magix, can you inform the best way to get the iZotope then activated?

@Shimager

Welcome to the Magix user to user forums, so not a contact for any Magix staff.

@rraud has confirmed that these plugins are not part of the package which you have bought, despite what you clearly believed. Unfortunately, I suspect, therefore, your only option if you wish to be able to use them is to purchase them direct from iZotope.

Hi Jeff, thanks for your fast answer! It seems that those individual items Ozone 9 Elements and RX 7 are quite expensive and it would be more cheap to buy again Sound Forge 14 (as an upgrade of it selves?) ... But will that then work you think? Crazy stuff this...

emmrecs wrote on 1/30/2021, 9:54 AM

@Shimager

Hmm, I see what you mean about the prices! I'm sure the last time I checked on Ozone 9 Elements it was less than $50.

If you wished to do as you suggested and buy again SF 14 you would not need to uninstall the software nor indeed reinstall the "new" version but at least you should then get the serial keys (and download links if needed) for the two iZotope products you want. That would certainly seem to be a lower cost alternative to buying the plugins!

As someone who has used the full, Advanced, versions of Ozone and RX for several years, I know I would now find it very hard to manage without them!

Thanks Jeff, for the good suggestion that we would only need the license number ;-) Should have thought of that. :-) Actually meanwhile I managed to have a chat on the iZotope website and as I had an earlier paid version I could get a good offer for Ozone 9 Elements and RX 8 which was still cheaper than again SF14 (including Nectar Elements). So that was a good offer and this topic is thereby solved (with good support from iZotope). I just still think that Magix should not mislead customers as they did... Anyhow. Book closed and further editing possible :-)

Hi there. As I also have problems with iZotope plugins that are preinstalled in Sound Forge Pro, and clearly presented as part of the core functions (and not as some extra plugins). Even the Sound Forge Pro user guide says "New versions of included mastering and audio restoration plug-ins by iZotope, Ozone Elements and RX".

And now Magix' so called customer service tells that these aren't included!? Arrogance and misleading marketing. If you can't trust the company, can you then trust the software (Vegas Pro)?

rraud wrote on 4/30/2021, 4:46 PM

As was previously stated, the third-party (iZotope) plug-ins are not included in the Vegas Pro/Sound Forge Pro package deal.
They are included when Sound Forge Pro-15 is purchased singularly from Magix.

MAGIX Software, GmbH is the parent of Vegas Creative Software.

The main issue here is Magix/Vegas' questionable and misleading way to do marketing. As in this case, where they "forget" to mention that Sound Forge Pro bundled with Vegas Pro is not a full version (although everything in their marketing indicates that it is). I, and apparently also others, have wasted lots of time trying to figure out what was wrong :-(

I'm with you too, as it took me a long time to get over it.
But our complaining in a user-to-user forum will not stop the marketing strategists from continuing to spread their messages in a blatant manner, as this is a behaviour that not only affects Magix, but many, many companies in this world.

What remains for us as consumers is to learn once again from a painful experience and before we get carried away buying a product, to read the product specifications even more carefully - and possibly before buying - to make enquiries in the forums.

Do you speak on the behalf of Magix and offering a refund?

@jann No, I am a user like you, but you can just write a mail to shop@magix.net or infoservice@magix.net and ask for a refund. Of course, then will you also lose your Vegas Pro license.

I think I will ask for price reduction corresponding to the price of the missing plugins.

The presentation video on Vegas Pro product page flashes with an iZotope logo and later shows four iZotope RX plugins - while both the narrator and the description are telling about how Sound Forge Pro is now bundled with Vegas Pro.
