Issues Installing Movie studio 18

I have a new windows 11 laptop and I managed to install movie studio 18. Today I can't find it. I uninstalled it and deleted all of the data and files connected with it and when I reinstall it gets to step 3 of 3 and hangs at the end of the install. Can someone tell me how to install it successfully?

@John-Gaydon

Welcome to the Magix user to user forums.

You wrote: Today I can't find it. I uninstalled it. I have to ask, if you couldn't find it how did you uninstall it?? And why?

I suspect the problem is caused by that uninstall. When you say you deleted all the data and files connected with it does that also include any registry entries? In addition, because some files, folders and registry entries are created by first and subsequent runs of the program it is almost inevitable that something of the former installation has been "left behind" and is causing the problem for you.

As a first stage towards resolving it have a look at this Microsoft Support page. It includes a utility whose purpose is to enable complete removal of remnants of old programs. Just ensure you follow the directions very carefully, step by step!

Once it has completed, reboot your computer and try again to install MMS 18. Come back and let us know whether or not you have been successful. If it has not worked we may have other ideas to offer you!

@John-Gaydon

You need to either allow the app to run by telling your firewall it's a legitimate program, or perhaps better, disable your firewall completely whilst you run the app. The .crdownload extension merely shows that it is an (as yet incomplete) downloaded file, I think. The full correct name of the file is MicrosoftProgram_Install_and_Uninstall.meta.diagcab
