Is there any way to notate compositions in Music Maker Premium 2014?

mrtrumpet wrote on 1/14/2014, 10:41 AM

I can recall many years ago being able to have midi sequencers also provide the capability to produce music you can print out.  As a musician from many years back I find this helpful in understanding my chord structures, progressions, etc.  I know it's different these days, but I miss being able to look at my compositions as musical notes.

Is there any way to have Music Maker Premium 2014 show our music as notes on a staff?

Thanks

Dave

This  is a greaat question, sadly, its been my experience....somewhat llimited.....to never seen this done, or ran aacross an option that says "to print your music notes, do this xxxxxxxxx" however I would think there other transcribing software that would print out the music you record in the Magix format.  I truly hope soomeone elese has a much bettter answer than mine.  I wil be following your posts.  Wish I ccould have been more help

Thanks, Gnarly.  Maybe someone at Magix is listening and will let us know if there is a way.  Or, if not, maybe he'll let Magix know there's an opportunity for profit!

As you mention, however, there may be third party solutions.  I'm thinking Cakewalk might have a product that will do this.

I wonder if the reason music developers don't do this any more is that it would make it easier to copy their loops and other provided musical components...

I sorta side with Magix in that they figure all this stuff out, load the various programs with all kinds of bells and whistles.  They gotta make a buck. I have used Magix stuff for about 8 years, just to entertain myself, and I feel like I have barely scratched the surface of its abilities.  I always wonder what this doees and that does and go off to never-never land and forget what I was trying to do.  If anything, in my estimation, its way over my head....but I have gained some knowledge and try to share it ...except for those who write "....just bought this, what does it do ?"  For  a few yaars  I used Sequel,,which is in  may respects like Magix, at least it was.   i haven't visited their site for quite some time.  So far I have never heard or seen where anybody has written "...I bought the license froom Magix, wrote this music and sold it to ...."  Insert anybody or company you wish.  And I have never heard a word from Magix saying the same thing....U2 uses Magix....Beyonce is a Samplitude user....so I don't know why they even charge extra for the license they require.  Good luck

Understand where you're coming from.  However, as a former musician, I find it much easier if I can actually SEE the music on a staff.  I don't care if I can print it out, necessarily.  They can cripple printing, as far as I'm concerned.

But, it is a music creation program, and to be truly useful to musicians the ability to see the music language would make it more valuable, IMHO.

Hi,

As you have found out, MMM does not have the ability to see and edit the midi music on a score sheet in musical notation. Samplitude Music Studio (SMS) has this feature. Here is a screen shot from the SMS manual showing the score editor. Notes can be added, moved and modified in either the score editor (musical notation) or in the matrix editor (like in MMM).

Below is a screen shot of the Score Editor in page mode. It is limited in that the notes cannot be input or moved, but can be deleted. This view is principally for printing out the score.

I have both programs. MMM has limitations, especially in only allowing one track input. SMS allows multi-track input and shows the score sheet in music notation on a staff. MMM has video ability to be able to dub or score a video track and see it and share it with Movie Edit Pro; SMS no longer has this video option. It would be good if Magix would make these things clear in their advertising.

If you want even more, then you would have to buy Samplitude Pro X, which costs a lot more. I suggest that you also get SMS the next time that Magix has a good deal on it.

You can download and try out the trial version to see what SMS does.

Enjoy!
