When a video is trimmed the result is independent clips. Camtasia has a feature whereby two clips can be “stitched” together so that they act as one unit. This is different than grouping. For instance, stitching can be done sequentially at each seam and clips can be unstitched at any seam. Also, the volume curve becomes contiguous across stiches which is very convenient when fading across a two clips.
My issue that that when I am working on the volume curve on a clip deep in the timeline I occasionally move the clip when I try to click and drag a volume curve node. I then have to inspect the timeline to see whether I ended up overlapping clips. I am trying to find a way to prevent clips to the left of where I am editing from moving around – which would they would not do if they were “stitched.”
Grouping does not seem to be the answer because I can’t cumulatively add a new clip to an existing group. It appears that the groupings have a hierarchy and I and up with a group of subgroups.
Is there an alternative?
