@Brandon-Mayer Hi, there's a few ways of adding masks so before getting into that - most things work the same in all versions, but just to check I went to the Magix Comparison page https://www.magix.com/gb/video-editing/movie-studio/version-comparison/#c1477926, & I was surprised at how many crosses (X) compared to ticks there were between Basic & Platinum, If you've only just purchased you should be able to get a refund & upgrade?

Effects masks are inc in Platinum, 3 little dots top right opens a dropdown, Load Effects Mask - then a folder with masks opens,

But looking at the Magix page I don't know if you'll get those masks ?

PS, or, Blur effects a few lines above, If you get Gaussian Blur ?

Hi,

Did I just mess up and should have ordered the Platinum version?

Yes! You will quickly find other tools that are missing from the basic version and just get more frustrated.

@browj2 I'm quite surprised by the comparison,

Preview rendering is not in the basic version, I would've thought that would be part of the core program,

I would expect at least a simple blur in an editing software however basic,

Snap markers again i think part of the core program,

Effect transitions, are there any in the basic MS?

@Former user

Hi,

That is why I always tell people to not get the basic version. That, and the price differential is usually quite small. In some cases, the sale price for MEPPlus/MSPlat was the same. When I told this to one user who asked which to get, he replied that he didn't need any of the main editing tools, so he went for the basic version - for the same price! Go figure.

Look at the current prices for New. £34.49 for basic, £39.99 for Platinum. For only £5.50, the difference in functionality is huge.

@browj2 🙋‍♂️Hi, Yeah for only £5 difference you'd go for Platinum, I just went through the comparison again, the benefit of buying the basic MS £5 cheaper doesn't out way the loses,
