Is there a secret to lining up Multi-cam recordings?

I cannot get the Movie Edit Pro EX Multi-cam app to line up recordings no matter how I approach it.

I have followed the directions as provided in the Videodeluxe Manual, the Help menus and, have read the very few posts on this topic.

My approach has been to put the recordings on the appropriate tracks, i.e. 3&4 for one recording and 5&6 for the second, set the software for Multi-cam mode and then zoom in to see the audio tracks clearly.  All this is fine.  My problem is that the two recordings on the four tracks get locked together such that the one recording cannot be relocated with respect to the second if they are brought together head-to-head either at the zero time line or away from this time line.  This makes any "lining up" the recordings from two sources an impossible task. I have tried to Ungroup both the recording pairs and then all four tracks individually but, to no avail.  All tracks will drag in unison.

Any ideas?

Running the software on a Dell D630 laptop equipped with Intel Core 2 Duo cpu T7250 @ 2.00GHz, 32-bit Windows 7 Pro SP1 operating system, 4.00 GB memory (3.49GB reported as usuable,) Intel Mobile 965 Express chipset for display, storing active projects on an external USB harddrive.  I have the system set up for Performance with just about everything I can deactivate safely turned off, including the Virus protection!

Hi

Check your mouse mode setting - you may be in 'All tracks' mode - you need Single object mode to move objects individually.

Thank you Johnebaker!

I hadn't yet reached the section in the manual regarding mouse actions and did not even think about the mouse as a possibility.  It is a mildly quirky bit of software when one is uninitiated but, I like it so far.  So, off I go to edit my way to the next conundrum!  :-)

Cheers,
