Is soundcard needed for 2017 version.

I run Windows 10 Pro and I have just bought a copy of Magix Audio Cleaning Lab 2017. It tells me that I need a separate sound-card. My previous (2005 ) version worked with the Realtek Audio on my motherboard. Can I make this new version work with Realtek?

Welcome to the Magix user to user forums.

No, your internal Realtek should be fine. But from where did you buy such an old version of ACL?

I can only presume it is a "pre-owned" copy. Is that correct? If so, has the previous owner deactivated it and asked Magix to deregister it to him/her? If not, you are likely to be unable to register it and activate it on your computer so it will not run.

FYI, the latest "version" of this software is "Sound Forge Audio Cleaning Lab 2".

Hi

. . . . It tells me that I need a separate sound-card.  . . . .

IIRC - the message is that it cannot find a sound card to record from.

To record from the Realtek you need to enable the Stereo mixer in the Sound Settings dialog - it is most likely disabled, also ensure you turn down the Systems sound volume control in the mixer so you dont record Windows making its noises.
