Is Snap Marker working for you in MEP Plus 2016?

I just downloaded the full version of MEP Plus 2016 and have been checking the new features. The new Snap Marker feature doesn't work on my setup. (V15.0.0.77, the latest as of this writing.) I click on the button (near the Snap button) and nothing happens. (That is, the Snap Marker button doesn't press in and change color.) Nor can I drop a Snap Marker on an object. I thought it might be a video card problem, but 1) I'm running a new Nvidia GTX 960 with the latest drivers and 2) I tried using "compatibility mode" in the display settings in Magix. No change. So, my question: Is there anyone in the forum running MEP 2016 who can test if the Snap Marker is working for them?

Started with MEP 11, then 17, then MX, then MEP 2013, 2015, then 2016. Changed to the fast competitor after that, which worked fine with my non-Intel hardware. Then bought a used Dell with an Intel GPU, just to play with MEP again. Installed MEP 2020 Plus in March 2020, even tho I don't like losing patches if I have to reinstall after a year.

Testing on a Dell Vostro, <s>i3-8100</s> updated to i5-9400 w/ UHD 630, 16 GB 2400 DDR4 (CL15), Win10 Home, heavily NTLite'd. Now with GTX-1650 Super OC'd. Added a WD Blue M.2 for OS (PCIe 3), Apps, Temps and Video-In. 2 Monitors. A WD Blue SSD for outputs. (SATA III.)

Hi

I have found that the Snap markers can be tricky to use and do not always show where the zone is.

Normally you can drag an object frame by frame, however, when you try to drag an object that has attached itself to the marker there is a 'dead zone', where you have to move the mouse more, before the object begins to move - sometimes this is difficult to detect and you may need to zoom in.

A Snap marker cannot be 'dropped' onto an object - the timeline cursor has to be positioned and either the big snap button clicked, the snap marker button just above the timeline clicked or press Ctrl+P to set one.

I haven't figured out the part about aligning the markers with transients. See under Effects, Snap markers.

Okay, I finally found them. (Thanks.) I was expecting a big red circle marker, like I recall seeing on the promotional literature for MEP 2016. Instead, they're just a thin black line that you can only see if you zoom in to the object with the Zoom Object button. (I would attach a screen shot to show others if I knew how to do it in this forum.)

Yes, you are correct. I misspoke when I talked about "dropping" a Snap Marker. I did have the timeline cursor over the object and I clicked on the Snap Marker button (I also tried Ctrl+P) to "place / drop" a Marker on the object.

I presume you mean the red circles that appear at times in the promotional videos.

These red circles indicate when a the mouse has been clicked, and are a feature of many screen capture programs.

MEP (Plus and Premium only) and VPX can also do this when you are capturing screen activity.

Ahhh... that was probably was the red circles were then. I have used Plus to record video off my screen, but I haven't used the "mouse click" feature.

Per browj2's post below, Magix should make the snap markers easier to see.

I'm writing this from memory (am at another computer now) but IIRC, under Edit, Markers, there is an option to jump to the next snap marker. That's how I finally found a marker I inserted but couldn't see. But I agree with you: Magix should figure out a way to make the snap markers easier to see in time line mode.

Just to add that I've asked (by making a support contact with Magix) that they consider having an option so that humans with normal eyesight can display these markers in the previous way (that is, a decent thick line, although still frame accurate).

The marker is actually there at the left hand end of the lower, yellow track, but almost invisible.

If you also think this is a backward step you might want to "add your vote" on this to Magix Support ......
