Normally the AVCHD export from software was created to export to the camera the same type of movie without need to render. If you own a Panasonic camera when you shot a video you create an AVCHD file with extension file in the stream folder .MTS.

The MTS file is transfered to computer to generate a M2TS file extension.

AVCHD file can be play directly to TV using directly the SD memory or using the camera with a HDMI cable.

It is tricky to work with system like AVCHD, in my case I use my software to export directly to my SD card in mts file format with Panasonic we have a software HD Writer AE to save the m2ts file in mts file on the sd card.

Probably with your camera you have the same tool.

You can try to rename your file extension m2ts in m2t.

The main advantage you save all rendering time and DVD or B-R disk plus time to burn on dosk. The price for SD card and USB memory drop month after month.

AFAIK m2t and m2ts are the same format - AVCHD - the 3 character file extension is for programs which still use the old 8.3 file naming convention.

As YR says try changing the file extension to m2t after export.

Is there a particular reason why you need the m2t file extension?
