Is it possible to backup activation?

Hello all,

Greetings.

I am totally new to this, and just today installed Magix Movie Edit Pro. After I activated there was a message saying something like to backup the Serial and Activation key if possible. I tried to find the activation key from Help->About. I have the serial key. But not the Activation key. Is it possible to make a backup of the activation? So, if for any reason, like formatting harddisk, if I reinstall Magix - I could use the backup activation file. Is there any such way to do this?

Take care and have a nice day.

Best regards,

Rabiul Hassan Khan.

Hi

The only time I have seen this message is when registering the software using the  offline, other computer/phone/email, method is used to register the software manually.

This is where MEP generates a computer id which you then use to register the software either by going to the Magix website enter the computer id and get an avtivation key which you then enter in to the programs registartion window.

. . . . if for any reason, like formatting harddisk, if I reinstall Magix - I could use the backup activation file. Is there any such way to do this . . . .

AFAIK - no.

Only if you kept a copy of the computer id and activation code.  As I understand it, once entered into the program the activation key enables the software to run in full version mode instead of trial mode.

You can check to see if the activation key is available online by going to the magix.com website click the My Account button top right of the home page.

Login with your email address and password used to register the software.

Select the My Products option and you will be taken to the page which contains your registered products, download and serial number - if you activated as above then you may also see the activation key if it is available

However should you ever need to do a clean install you should be able to activate online or regenerate the activation code again.

The computer id and activation key are unique to your system and are part of the copyright protection and piracy prevention for the software.

Thank you for your answer.

No, it is not available on the web/online (Magix account). I searched almost everywhere. Somewhere I read that magix will call home within a month or two, may be to inform that everything is alright. Else, it may stop working. That means you should must have internet connection. Although I personally don't like these, I understand that they are trying to tackle piracy. However, these days everything is changing fast, can't and don't try to understand anymore.
