Installing Movie Edit Pro from disc?

I just built a new computer and wanted to install my disc of movie edit pro 15 on it so I can finally edit HD video without lagging. But when I double click the movie edit pro shortcut, a message comes up saying "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item." Why is it doing this?

A quick guess only, because you have not described the specs of your new system...

As MEP15 is rather old it may be assuming write access to parts of your hard drive that are 'protected' by the newer versions of Windows eg Win 7. You say the problem is using the MEP shortcut which sounds like the installation was successful. Did you install and/or are you trying to run your program using administrator privileges?

@cpc000cpc - My new system has an i7 3770k processor, 16 gb or ram, and a solid state drive, ect. After i installed it, i tried running it as administrator, which gave me the same results. So I restarted my computer and it blue screened. Then after restarting, the program opened, but then a message from magix appeared saying the program could not be launched because files were missing or corrupt. The problem is I'm installing from the original disc, so I don't know how this is happening...

Hi

You have not said which version of Windows you have, so I am guessing you have Windows 8.

If so then you should consider upgrading MEP to the latest version.

MEP 15 is too old for the new OS and users have been reporting problems on this forum with older versions of MEP and Windows 8 .
