My installation disk doesn't recognize Windows 7. Latest copyright on the installation disk is 2007. What do I need to do to get a version which will install?
Windows 7 was released in October 2009, apparently, so I am very surprised a 2007 disc cannot be loaded. To test whether it really is an incompatible version, or simply a problem with the disc itself, the recommended procedure is:
Create a folder somewhere on your computer called, e.g. ACL Install. The desktop is fine for the location of this folder.
Put the disc in your computer's disc drive and select to copy the complete content to that folder.
Once copied, open the folder and look for a file named something like "SetUp.exe" or "Install" or similar, double-click it and allow it to install the program. (If you're not sure exactly which file to click on, post a screenshot here of ALL the contents of that folder.)
If successful you can quite happily delete the folder and all its contents you created.
If that fails to install the program you will have to seriously consider upgrading to a later version.
One other point: I assume you are aware that Windows 7 is now out of support by Microsoft so will never receive any security or other updates and so will render your computer potentially vulnerable to external intrusions?
