Installation fail

DJM916 wrote on 10/22/2022, 11:24 AM

I installed SoundForge 16. It worked fine. I uninstalled to troubleshoot an unrelated problem. I downloaded the installer again and the SoundForge software will not complete transfer. The Izotope software installed just fine. The SF software will not install after several retries and re downloading installer software.
Please help.

Try to reinstall again, but use the previously unpacked installer file(s), which you probably still have in "C:\Users\---User Name--\Documents\MAGIX Downloads\Installationsmanager ..
unless they were deleted manually,.
There have been reports of trouble with the installation manager downloading the unpacked files, which is usually an anti-virus interruption ,

btw, welcome to the Magix Sound Forge users forum @DJM916.

All the rest of the programs install just fine, Sound Forge does not install.

it installed, but would not activate :(

same message about no internet connection

SP. wrote on 10/23/2022, 12:58 PM

@Huda-Sammour Disable your firewall or Windows Defender temporarily.

Huda-Sammour wrote on 10/23/2022, 1:08 PM

it finally worked, thanks. Could have been a server issue.

hi @David-Courvoisier, have you checked both your Windows Internet Settings and the internet settings of your default browser? Even if you've disabled your antivirus software, if your browser internet settings or the Windows Internet Settings need adjustment, it will block the download and/or activation. i do believe that the server was down, but i've already uninstalled all of my versions of SF (every version from 12 to 16, Audio Studio and Pro) and downloaded and reinstalled from the normal link in my Magix User Account, and they all downloaded and installed fine, so it looks like the server is working fine at the moment.

I hardly follow. What worked? That link has pages and pages of links to new pages stating general principles. Not precise steps to follow that I could see...
Could someone enlighten me on what to do to fix this?
Thanks

Hi @Cielspacing, if all you need is the single unpacked installer for 64 bit Sound Forge Pro 16, this is one you want. Download it here: http://dl04.magix.net/2022/SOUNDFORGEPro16/SOUND_FORGE_Pro_16.1.2.55_DLV_INT_x64_220914_05-50_52A64BAA.exe

The unpacked installation files bypass the quirky installation manager issues. I have the unpacked installer files pack in easy-to-navigate Zip files if you need them.

Hi rraud, Thanks but is not that file, the one I am looking for.
The context:
I had been looking for weeks for a way to reinstall SF14. A license I have own since nearly its launch. I also own SF 13 and several other Sound Forge versions from SONY Creative.

However I have only managed to get SF13 partial functionality. If I try to convert wavs to MP3s now it will not function. I have yet to try to reinstall SF 10 or 11 to see if I manage to get to do this basic mastering task..

My present issue: Two days ago I decided to pay again! for SF verion 15 license (thanks to Humble Bundle). However it wont auto install either!!
Therefore I am looking for a SOUND FORGE version 15 installer.

I will appreciate any help in this.

EDIT1
I received the install file from rraud (Thanks!) However, no joi. It neither activated this way.
So, I will continue with the solution shown in this thread. That I still strive to understand. (Bear in mind that I've spent years installing OSs and fixing computers, however no luck with MAGIX authorization process)

May you please, explain what actually worked for you? It might help others reading this thread.

According to the solution highlighted in the link, you (Dave Courvoisier) seem to be referring to, the activation issue is caused by "Your guess is correct. In your website, it redirects to an insecure HTTP connection to implement the download function, resulting in a mixed content download, which ultimately leads to this issue."
(The bold connotation is mine).

So MAGIX!! this activation failure of the software you provided is actually being caused because your licensing system contacts a page behind HTTP, instead of the HTTPS (note the "S" in it) that at 2023 is mandatory for all browsers and most search engines, internet filters, etc!!!

Is that so? According to the latest solution put forward in this thread; that is the case.
I should feel ashamed if such is the case, in a website I manage. For a company like MAGIX, it would be such basic oversight that I won't qualify it, but adjectives come to mind.
In this case, MAGIX, you'd better fix your servers' address asap. Newcomers, old timers ( I as one of us), would be grateful to finally be able to focus on other tasks instead.
Otherwise find the actual licensing failure and fix it now or if takes time, provide a workaround.

///I say thanks already anyway, for the actual person that has the clout and position to amend this longstanding problem, if somebody cares.
Hope then warm regards to you from your relations and happy festivities for all of us, we better tune there, it feels. . .

The answer from the Microsoft support website linked above has nothing to do with Magix.

But it simply shows a screenshot on how to unblock the download of a file that is blocked by the web browser. That's all.

Well, as you say, it does show (a rather convolute) way "to unblock the download of a file that is blocked by the web browser". I agree with you on that SP. however, no more than that, despite we (affected users) might have to thank you for posting here anyway, if it helps to bring awareness to MAGIX on this simple issue.

What in most lights is true, is that - according to the unblocking procedure applied at Microsoft cited link - the reason for the blockade stands in the fact that the website the authorising system requires to access (that is, MAGIX servers) has an address still using the HTTP athentication protocol, instead of the nowadays required HTTPS, therefore lacking the installation of a simple up-to-date SSL certificate that will upgrade and solve our issue...

Have in mind that since 2018!! Browsers require the utilization of SSL certificates to any website, personal, recreational and professional ones.
https://www.digitalflare.co.uk/blog/view/chrome-will-mark-all-http-sites-as-unsecure-starting-in-july/

This failure IS responsability of MAGIX. I suspect marketing area.
Specific adjectives for such behaviour begin to mount...

SP. wrote on 12/14/2023, 10:32 AM

@Cielspacing No TLS isn't a requirement. Browsers just warn users, that's all.

There is another problem with your internet connection or provider, if it isn't caused by your firewall, that blocks the activation. It might simply work if you use a VPN or another DNS server.

However, the solution cited at the Microsoft link instructions, clearly signal what are changing:

@David-Courvoisier https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/answers/questions/586004/how-to-avoid-the-34file-can39t-be-downloaded-secur.html

In their own words "In order to solve this problem, you need to use the matching policy: InsecureContentAllowedForUrls. It is used to create a list of URL patterns to specify sites that can display or download insecure mixed content (HTTP content on HTTPS sites)."

Since that solution was shared by you SP. above, and explicitly named by Dave Courvoisier as having worked:

That worked....thanks "SP"!

///In this thread, I am not adding data points from my own source, except asking us here (and MAGIX by extension) to acknowledge the consequences of proven solutions to real problems. Solutions that directly point to failed MAGIX actions.

That stated, thanks SP. by your attempt to point me to other possible solutions:

There is another problem with your internet connection or provider, if it isn't caused by your firewall, that blocks the activation. It might simply work if you use a VPN or another DNS server.

Just replaced my DNS with public google ones (8,8,8,8 and 8.8.4.4). SF 15 PRO authorisation failed again.
And nope, I am not using any VPN.

So I am prsently out of foreseable solution possibilities, and no answer yet to my open ticket with MAGIX support.
