Installation Error

Eric-Holbrook wrote on 10/9/2021, 3:20 PM

After downloading the install exe, I'm presented with a "An error has occured during communication. Please check your internet connect... check internet..."
Options to abort, retry, ignore, typical windows prompt dialog, etc.

My internet is fine. 200mbs I'm an not running anything special. Steam and other stuff is running as I type and of course I'm here online. Anyone have any ideas?

@Eric-Holbrook Try to check your firewall configuration or disable it temporarily. Maybe it will work.

I do not have a firewall config running except win 10 default stuff. For sake of argument, I have disabled that and tried with no success.

I have installed hundreds if not thousands of apps/games on this machine with no network connection issues. Steam, Epic, Adobe, Microsoft.

There is nothing that has been turned on/off that has ever affected any other software install in this fashion and my guess is the error message has nothing to do with the real issue here.

MAGIX Installation manager
An error had occurred during communication.
Please check your Internet connection.
Please check the following prerequisites for a successful
transfer:

Check that your ni\vork attachments are correct (modem, network cable...)- ^
Check to see it your Internet connection settings are correct in your system settings (network connection).
With help from your network administrator or Internet service team make sure that current settings are correct.

For what it's worth, I've seen other posts in here with people with similar issues and I have not seen those resolved

One more item of interest, when I use an app I use for web development that monitors traffic,

I can clearly see, right when the button is clicked to install and the error...

a 301 error, moved permanently when the install tries to run .

The download exe is pointed to a dead file or something. Whatever it is, it's not valid

@Eric-Holbrook

Hi

. . . . I do not have a firewall config running except win 10 default stuff . . .

If you have no other Antivirus program installed it is called Windows Defender - an Antivirus/Firewall all in one and Microsoft will not let you un-install it.

Once you have downloaded the installation files try disabling Windows Defender before letting the install continue.

Enable Defender again after install and activation.

I am having the same issue with Musicmaker 2023. Followed all the advice but it still does not work. Firewall diabled, Truned off defender, went to internet properties, etc. help.

Did anyone ever find a solution for this issue? I did a Windows 11 restore recently, and when I tried to reinstall MusicMaker 2023 on my computer, I got that error message "An error had occurred during communication." I wonder if it's a temporary problem at the server end.
