Hello, I currently own Magix Music Maker 2017 Plus Edition, I have downloaded some vst instruments but I am unable to actually install them in MMM, I've followed steps given in this foroum but the moment I select the folder, the progrem makes the animation as if it was added but the instrument is just not there, the instrument is a .dll file but it just wont work. I need help.

@mikebot

Welcome to the Magix forums.

MM 2017 is now quite an "old" version so the following may NOT be correct: it is my understanding that to be able to use external VSTis in MM you need to be using the Premium variant, I note you have Plus.

Win 10 Pro 64 bit, Intel i7 Quad Core 6700K @ 4GHz, 32 GB RAM, NVidia GTX 1660TI and Intel HD530 Graphics, MOTU 8-Pre f/w audio interface, VPX, MEP, Music Maker, PhotoStory Deluxe, Photo Manager Deluxe, Xara 3D Maker 7, Samplitude Pro X7 Suite, Reaper, Adobe Audition 3, CS6 and CC, 2 x Canon HG10 cameras, 1 x Canon EOS 600D, Akaso EK7000 Pro Action Cam

Apparently, I have the option to add new VST instruments, but when I do it, they are just not there. Is there a detailed tutorial on how I can add the VST on my MMM version?

@mikebot

I don't know whether this is what you intended, but the inserted video shows only a blank screen with the cursor moving to different areas of that screen. So, I'm very confused!!

Jeff

UPDATE: I see you have now removed the video.

I must also at least slightly amend the information in my first reply to you about external VSTis only being possible in the Premium variant. Searching the Help files for the current (2020) version I found the following;

which clearly shows that VSTis can be added to all variants of MM, but I particularly notice the word at the beginning of that text, "Now". I do not know whether that change was made prior to the 2017 version which you have or whether it actually applies only to more recent ones.

All right, so is there a way I can upgrade MMM plus 2017 to the 2020 version?

@mikebot

 is there a way I can upgrade MMM plus 2017 to the 2020 version?

A simple question to answer! Go to this page, select the variant you would like to use and press the Upgrade button (for the actual price).

@mikebot

It's free!

See tutorial below on Getting Started in MusicMaker 2019. The interface was changed slightly in 2020, including some changes in a patch, but the principal is the same. You will likely have to Activate using any activation codes that you have, making sure that you are logged in to the Store. Then click on the Download button and Download and Install everything. Some elements will download but not install until you click on them individually and go through the install process.

Once done, you should have everything that you had before.

For VSTi's, they have to be 32 bit, not 64 bit. You do not "install" them in MusicMaker, you install them on your computer and then link to them from MMM. Best is to install them in subfolders under:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Vstplugins

Then in MMM Program Settings, Folders tab, click on the VST button at the bottom and navigate to the location of the VSTi's. You can do this multiple times for different locations.
