Install Error Audiovis.dll

bill4 wrote on 3/13/2012, 7:41 AM

Installed and repaired MEP #18 about 5 times and it keeps giving an error
when it tries to install the Audiovis.dll file.

Then when I try and open MEP18 the error message pops up BEHIND the
splashscreen and if you don't figure out it's back there you'll be staring at
that splashscreen for a long time.

A.) How do I get rid of the splashscreen?
B.) How do I fix the .dll problem?

Running XP Pro sp3 / 512mb video card / 2gb Ram

I go by Grandpa Bill, NOT Bill4 that MAGIX desided I would be named.
(I changed it and "they" changed it back.)

Hi

Which of the following are are you using?

1.  Antivirus

2. Anti Spyware

What is your system specification?

I think Grandpa Bill is not accepted by the registration system because it contains a space, so the system decided bill4 was the nearest and you must have originally accepted this.

Using 'AVG Free Edition 2011 version' also have installed 'Malwarebytes'

Not sure as to what else you want as to the system specs.???

I have two partitioned hard drives totaling over 750GB

it's a Pent4 2.80ghz (IBM)

Looks like the built-in sound card is a SoundMax.

Hi

Try doing a repair again after you have disconnected from the Internet, disabled your anti virus and the Malwarebytes softeware.

I suspect one of the two may think the dll is a virus/malware and is blocking it.

Sorry, my friend, but it's no joy....

The installer needed to check back to the mothership, so the net had to stay
on, but I did shutdown everything else, (No email/Browser/AV's/etc.) and it
'still' gave me that error during the install and twice during the program's
starting up. (Behind the SplashScreen)

I've looked all thru the programs settings and don't see any way to turn off
that dam splashscreen!!!!

What's plan 'B'??

Has there been any patches/updates for version 18?

I just did some more checking and it looks like Magix has had this same error problem
since 2003 -- What seems to be their malfunsion in fixing this in almost 10 years???

Hi

Try contacting support by email explaining the problem - they may have a fix.

It would appear as you say that here have been previous problems with this dll and not just in MEP but Music Maker as well.

I have not found any definitive solutions nor as many references as I would expect if this was a persistent problem with the software.

This suggsts to me the problem is caused by an external influence on the installer or Windows eg some other software that is installed, permissions on folders or in the registry.

If this is the case then trying to pin down what is causing it is going to be difficult.

If you have your windows installation CD and the drivers discs for your PC I would suggest you download Oracle Virtual Box install and create a virtual XP machine.  Then install MEP on this virtual machine.

If this installs correctly and runs OK then, and this is really a last resort option, I would consider backing up all your data and reformatting your hard drive, re-installing Windows XP and all the updates and then install MEP first, then any other programs you use, checking after each one that MEP works.  If it breaks then you will know what broke it.

I do realise that is a time consuming option, however it is often the only way to resolve such issues

There is no way I'm going to wipe out over 385 programs in graphics/videos to CAD to CNC Machining,
and loose All my emails/sales reciepts/keycodes/licenses......"JUST" to install this program!!!

As for tech support they want me to BUY a support Ticket!!!

Now I found a copy of that .dll ... I take it you have this Program installed so run a search for that .dll
and tell me where it is stored, (What folder/pathway/ and is there more than one location?)

Now if that, (Manual Install), doesn't work; tell me what phone number or email address to contact
to get a "REFUND"!!!

johnebaker wrote on 3/15/2012, 6:22 PM

Hi

The files is located in the

C:\Program Files\MAGIX\Movie_Edit_Pro_MX_xxxxx\RegModule where xxxxx = the version of MEP you have

You may also need to register the dll using the Regsvr32 command and entering the above path to the dll:

This should register the dll.  If this does not register the dll then the problem is with Windows or permissions and not MEP.

With that much software installed I can understand why you would not want to wipe your system.

Run the regsvr32.exe command with administrative rights (For Vista/Windows 7/Windows10 users):
To do this, click Start>All Programs>Accessories, then right-click on “Command Prompt” and select “Run as Administrator”.
Then type regsvr32.exe  audiovis.dll (replace some.dll with the dll in question).

You should be in the system32 (for 32-bit windows) or the sysWOW64 directory (if you have 64-bit windows) and have the *.dll file in both of the directories when you type "regsrv32 audiovis.dll

The message should come back with a "dll registered" or something similar. If you get a 0x800. . . error, you probably aren't running the command window as an administrator.

@Timothy-Hamilton

Welcome to the Magix forums.

Did you notice you had posted to a thread which is more than 6 years old? I'm pretty certain the OP has now resolved his problem or no longer uses MEP.

The problem of the audiovis.dll is one that I had just today (August 22, 2018). Which was stopping the Magix Music Maker 2019 from loading, and the error message was hidden behind the "splash screen" just as in the original entry to this forum thread. I was able to fix the problem in the way I described, after several hours of research. So in fact, the problem is contemporary, and the fix I listed is the only one mentioned that actually works.
