Inputs

Mark-Geiger wrote on 8/16/2020, 1:13 PM

My Mac book crashed so I am converting over from GarageBand and I am having problems figuring out the guitar filters and plugins. GarageBand I could plug in my electric acoustic guitar and change the sounds of my wave recordings to rock guitar or country. When I bought the rock guitar package from magic for 30 dollars I assumed it was for guitar not my keyboard! It only works through my piano keyboard midi. Why is it so hard to get it off the midi setting? I want so switch back while I’m writing songs from microphone in then go back to midi easily. This used to be much more user friendly when I used the original version 15 years ago! Why is it so confusing switching inputs.

Apply an FX to the track you're recording on, and set the FX to an amp like Vandal.

Or get an different amp VST off the web.

VST 4 Free is a nice website, make sure it's the correct VST for your version. MMM 2021 only supports 64bit VST unless you buy the 'VST Bridge', only then can you use 32bit VST.

Rock Guitar package from Magix? What is that and where did you find it? If it's a VST instruments, by definition they are for MIDI.

sorry- power guitar package-- why are the piano, guitar, and a voice image in the bottom corner of the packages even there? That instrument in the corner is how i thought they were divided. So, they are all just Midi sounds similar to sounds I already have preset from the factory on my keyboard. When i search "guitar" that's what shows up and its only guitar sounds for a keyboard? Where do i find amps for a real guitar? So i have to download a separate program from a site that will put adware on my computer to use the amps for a real guitar? Why doesn't Magix offer these drivers? I like playing piano, but can't achieve the sounds i want on a keyboard for guitar. It seems to me like who ever bought out Magix years ago likes to mix other musicians work and not record originals. I just want to play it on guitar, record a wave then can change the different amp sounds until i find the sound that's right like i did with garageband. Looks like i'm saving up to get a new mac. Garageband is much easier to figure out.

@Mark-Geiger

Still lost. Do you mean the MIDI instrument shown below?

What package? It's a download and I don't see any piano, guitar or voice image.

Where do you see this? Where did you buy it?

Are you using Music Maker? This is the Music Maker forum. Music Maker does not run on a mac.

sorry- power guitar

Power guitar is an instrument. Which is why it's listed in the instrument section of the store. If you want to play and record your own guitar with an amp simulator you use Vandal SE in the effects chain. So you do exactly what you did in Garageband.

Hi

. . . . power guitar package-- why are the piano, guitar, and a voice image in the bottom corner of the packages even there? . . .

@browj2 is not the only one who is lost with what you have - none of the guitar instruments I can find in the Store have piano, guitar, and a voice image on them.

. . . . Why is it so hard to get it off the midi setting? . . . .

This is not possible - you bought an Instrument not an Effect

. . . . Where do i find amps for a real guitar? . . . .

I assume what you mean is effects that emulate different types of amplifier characteristics, such as Amplitude or Vandal. There are many VSTs guitar amp effects available on the Internet, see here for examples - ensure you get both the 32 and 64 bit versions of the VSTs - for your next upgrade to the 64 bit version of Music Maker

If so these will appear in the various Track or Mixer FX racks as shown below click the indicated + button to open the pop-up menus
