Input configuration Win7

After 9 years of use under WinXP I thought I knew Magix AClean pretty well. After upgrading to Win7, however, I was never able to configure the Record Input channel to Line In (on an IBM 8113 with SoundMAX audio) and I don't know why. The menus on AClean 10 and 12 presented no problems under WinXP. It's the later version menus (under Win7) that frustrate me. What did I fail to see ?

Hi.

I don't have ACL so my suggestions/thoughts may be completely wrong, but...

You say you want to set the Record Input channel to Line In. What is the "source" of the signal you wish to record? Is it external to your computer or internal? If internal, I think Win 7 was the first version to include a default setting "demanded" by the RIAA, designed to prevent users from making copies of CDs etc. they already owned. (RIAA say it is piracy and hence, they lose money.) Thus the facility to record "What U Hear", which was a feature of Win XP and earlier versions, was removed.

Sometimes it is possible, in the Windows Sound Panel>Recording Devices to tick an option to "Show Disabled Devices". If you are very lucky What U Hear may be listed and you can then select it. However, the complication for you may be that the SoundMAX audio control panel effectively overrides the default Windows panel. Perhaps that has a similar setting to allow access to otherwise disabled devices?
