Independence Pro/Free

buckinjo wrote on 4/13/2021, 12:56 PM

I have 2 requests maybe someone in the community can help me with considering a week has gone by with No reaponse from MAGIX.

Many years ago I downloaded the YT Independence Free (2.5) for Mac.

I liked it because I had fun with it.

I still have the installer and currently have the program running. However, I No longer have the YTIF Library and cannot find it online.

Last week, I figured to do the right thing and I purchased the MAGIX independence pro for $65 it comes with the “free” 2gig library. The library installer only works for macOS 10.13 or later. Im running 10.12.

1) I would like to continue using YT Indy free 2.5 on my older Mac. Does ANYONE have the old library installer for it I could have?

2) Will MAGIX have to send me a different Library Installer that works on macos 10.12 and earlier for my purchase?

My first post, im not much of a forum person so please let me know if I am not posting correctly.

Thanks!!

josh

@buckinjo

Welcome to the Magix user to user forums.

Given the rather "unusual" nature of your request I somehow doubt whether any other user will be able to help you, sorry.

Therefore, I think you should email Magix Customer Services at infoservice@magix.net, explain your problem and ask if they can give you access to this older library installer.

And by the way, whether or not you are not much of a forum person your post was clear and easy to understand, so thank you!

Edit: I've just looked at the system requirements for Independence, which states "macOS10.7 or later". Are you sure the library installer you have won't run?

JohnEB- I forgot about that Magix Page with the “Free” Version! Ill try using that Library installer for my old 2.5.4 version. Thank-You Sir!

Jeff- Thanks for reaching out also!

I not only verified the image files/Library Installer wont work on OS under 10.13 (HighSierra), I found “10.13” written in the Code for the installer. However...... I found a solution that seemed to have worked:

•Mac users should know how to right-click to “show package contents” . So do that on the installer icon

•Look for the file and open it in TextEdit

•Rename the 2 lines that contain the “10.13” to the minimum MacOS needed

•Close that document but stay in the show package contents area

•Double Click on the UNIX icon for “AuthorizedInstall”

•Enjoy your Properly Registered (and paid) library download on macOS under 10.13

Magix needs to fix that or change the website to reflect the new minimum OS they officially support

Thanks again!!
