In task manager the so-called Update Notifier takes permanent 20% cpu

This makes no sense. It seems like there must be some kind of error. I found a forum note for uninstalling it, but is that really appropriate? Seems like it should do whatever it does waiting quietly. Ending the task seemed to have no fallout, but that is highly inappropriate for commercial software. Thank you.

@Arlene-Allen

Hi

The Update Notifier has several functions external to Movie Studio - importing from the cloud, connecting your smartphone to the PC for file transfer, and popup information messages/news.

It is an optional install, you would have been asked if you want to install it at the time of installing, if you did not turn off this option off, then it is installed by default.

Update Notifier can be uninstalled safely without affecting Movie Studio.

@Arlene-Allen Hi, I've seen the Updater in Taskmanager but never paid it any notice because as you say "do whatever it does waiting quietly",

I just opened MMS, I got a pop-up advert, closed that & looked at Taskmanager, Update Notifier Is at 0

I closed MMS, then reopened it, no pop-up advert this time, & no Update Notifier in Taskmanager

I don't know what but it sounds like something is amiss at your end,

What Magix program are you using?

Movie Studio suite. That is why I asked my question. The so-called update notifier is acting like its in a busy wait, something I wouldn't expect in 2023. I loaded the studio multiple times to verify this. After the load, there is a pop up. I delete it and the notifier is still spinning at about 20%. Latest code update, I would assume, since it auto updates.

@Arlene-Allen Quite often people get sick of the pop-ups so they uninstall it , I think,

I don't mind the pop-ups & get them only when I first open MMS, since starting my PC this morning i've closed & opened MMS about 4 times to test this, the pop-up only showed on the first opening, but looking at my Taskmanager I do have it Disabled 🤷‍♂️😂

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, I noticed the comments that people disabled it in task manager. I'll stop the thread with this. Its lousy software design, but if it can be worked around, then whatever.
