Hi

. . . . I have win 10 installed . . . .

Was this an upgrade from Windows 7 or 8?

If so, was Music Maker installed before the upgrade?

If yes to both questions, then you need to re-install Music Maker using this procedure.

When posting please give more information - eg program version you are using, what you have tried to fix the problem, indicate if the program was working before etc.

Hi John,

I installed the Music Maker Silver 2015 directly to Win 10 by using the link which is given in Bonnier's publication's finnish version "Kotimikro 17/2015" on page 44.I followed the steps given there. I even registered my version to be able using it after the trial period. One possibility naturally is that the registration has failed somehow. Yet I have not got any such messages.

At some stage the play button worked somewhile but then it stopped. I tried reinstallation by using "repair" procedure but that didn't repair this problem. As the next procedure I have thought that I should remove the program completely from my computer and make the installation procedure again from the very beginning. Hopefully that will help.

Thank you for your instructions! Next time I'll try to be more accurate when telling about the problems I was quite pessimistic that anyone would reply my question.

Hello John

When I remover the program via Control Panel from my computer and reinstalled I got at the end following error message:

"Unelevated Postfinished process could not be created. The requested operation requires elevation (740)

Below explanation what I have done before:

Hi

. . . . Bonnier's publication's finnish version "Kotimikro 17/2015" on page 44 . . . .

I presume this is a Finnish magazine for all things digital.

. . . . I even registered my version to be able using it after the trial period. . . . .

Where was the download link location?

Did you purchase a licence from Magix to fully activate the program?

You can check the licence / activation status by browsing to magix.com, select the My Account icon top right of the home page

and login using your email address and password.

Select the My Products option - this will take you to the page where you should see your registered product(s)s, licence number(s), activated device(s) and download link for the installation program.

In the example below you can see the expired Music Maker trial version (red arrow) against a fully registered version (green arrow).

. . . . Unelevated Postfinished process could not be created . . . .

Assuming the logon you use for your computer has full administrator rights (as far as Windows 10 allows you) - this would suggest that something is interfering with the installation cleanup - antivirus, malware program or ?

Hi,

I found that that my music maker silver is registered.

I have as the virus protection and fire wall F-secure Internet security. It could not find any viruses or other problems. In addition I run Superantivirus program and let it remove all problematic items before I reinstalled music maker. Nothing seems to help.In addition I have run sfc /scannow in dos. Win 10 is updated with the latests level.

I have run music maker as administrator and normally and with compatibility to Win 7, Win8 or without i.e. in Win 10.

Thanks for your kind help efforts!

Hi John,

I have managed to solve the problem: I simply opened the Program settings and pressed there the Reset button. This solved the play-button problem. Yet I guess that by having the program completely uninstalled and then reinstalled the settings must somehow be wrong for Win 10 environment.

I have had a bit resembling problems with an other MIDI using program in Win10. Normally there have been used as play back devices : Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth and Microsoft MIDI Mapper. If these were selected in Win10 the program was unably to play any music and gave error messages. By taking both of these away the program started to work. I guess that Win 10 uses some other MIDI playing system than those mentioned above and which older windows versions were using. Compatibility Win7 or other versions didn't help.

The Microsoft GS Wavetable is still used in Windows 10, however the MIDI Mapper disappeared with the introduction of Windows 8.

Was your Windows 10 an upgrade from Windows 7?  If so then, AFAIK, the MIDI Mapper should have been removed during the upgrade.

Hi John,

The upgrade was made from Win 8.1. In my other aplication neither of the MIDI systems was accepted.
