Hi,

Use this setting to change what happens when using the Space key:

Or, regardless of that setting, use the Arrow Down key on your keyboard to stop playback and the Arrow Up key to restart it from that point.

But if by "start point" you mean the start of the entire project, then that is an obscure bug with a different solution.

Hi.  I have the solution for you,and it's very easy to do! (And convenient to use!)   OK: Open your MEP program. Go to the top and do the following: Select, 'File/Settings'. Towards the bottom of the Menu, select 'Program'. This will open a dialog box. On the left,it will say "Audio Playback",and on the RIGHT,it will say "Arranger". In that box, look for "Space Bar Behaviour". Click/select the little box. It will also say,"Space Bar stops a current playback position". Once you've done that, just click on 'OK' to close. Open any video on the Timeline and  play it...press the SpaceBar and it will pause it at that point. Press again, and it will continue to play from where you paused it!. It's very convenient and much better than using the mouse! Hope this helps!!??  Regards, Ray.

Just a PS: I also just saw Terrypin's answer. It actually just as easy to use Arrow DOWN and Arrow UP key as he stated,so you don't necessarily have to go to the 'trouble' of all the different selections I mentioned previously! Thanks,Terry!    Cheers,Ray.

Many thx to both coastman and terrypin.  Both worked and solved a big headache for me.  Another question I think one.both of you may have an answer to.  There is no audio waveform on the edit screen. How do I get audio to show?

I tried clicking the M on the left ...  did nothing.  In the file/settings area,   arranger,  the half waveform display is checked,  also video/audio on one track is checked.  Any suggestion?    Thanks, Alex

For your audio question, you could <try>,File/Settings/Reset Program Settings to Default. then close the program and re-open it,and add a video with sound track, and see if it shows in your timeline. Have you got all the timeline tracks properly expanded? (As above would reset this, anyway!)  Good luck!  Ray.

to Coastman,   thanks for info, but the default reset didn't do it.  I have normal DV video from a DV camera,  The audio plays very nicely in the MEP edit tracks, but no waveforms show.  Waveforms showed by default in my earlier versions of Magix editors and this disappoints.  Thanks anyway,   Alex

Hi,

You still haven't told us what MEP product you have.

Anyway, for just about all of them I can remember, you right click and choose 'Show waveform'.

I don't recall this ever being automatic but I could have forgotten.

Hi

. . . .How do I get audio to show? I tried clicking the M on the left . . .

The M on the left Mutes that track only - ie  it will not be included in playback , export, or DVD / BD creation.

...  did nothing.  In the file/settings area,   arranger,  the half waveform display is checked,  also video/audio on one track is checked.  Any suggestion . . . .

That suggests you are using MEP 2013 or Video Pro X  - select the video clips and right click - from the pop up menu select Audio and waveform display, Video and audio on seperate tracks as shown in this image

To make this a permanent option open the Program settings dialog and uncheck the two options shown below.

Thanks Terrypin and Johnebaker.  Yes, it's MEP 2013.  The suggested solution works  ---  exactly what I needed.
