In Magix Music Maker 16 I can't drag soundpool files into the timeline?

Help...

It's been awhile since I've used Music Maker 16 and I updated from the internet after I began the program.

But now, when I try to drag files from the soundpool at the bottom of the screen to the channels at the top I get a dialogue box pop up that reads:

"The file format of c:\Program files (86)\MAGIX\MusicMaker16\Basice_16\Best of Ambient Vol.1\Keys\TenderGrand1.wav cannot be read by MAGIX Music Maker.

Please ensure that the affected drive is not full or write-protected.

If you do not have read or write access to this path, pleadse contact the administrator."

Anyone know what I can do to drag and drop these soundpools so I can compose something?  I've tried dragging and dropping the files direct from the folder but it didn't work.  I can drag and drop the files from the folder into MusicMaker 14, but not into 16.  16 always gives me the above dialogue box saying I can't do it.  I really want to use 16 because it has options 14 doesn't...

Dang...where in the world did all the .ogg format's come from.  They won't even play in Windows player.  I swear they we're all .wav before I updated my Magix 16??

Thanks for any help in advance.

That seems odd, but it could be how the pathway is set up or you do not have suitable permissions to use that file.

Perhaps if when you start the Music Maker 16, you right click the icon and run as administrator, maybe that would help.

The format .ogg is just another audio format like .mp3 compression but without the license jargon that is usually associated with it.

John, you are a genius...running as administrator did the trick.  Wonder what happened.  This didn't happen when I first got Magix Music Maker.  But it's good now, thanks to you!

It could have happened from a Windows update... but its actually a good thing.  Regardless I am happy that things are working once again.

Hi

Did you notice this topic is 8 years old? Please do not resurrect old topics.

If you are running Music Maker MX on Windows 10 then the issues you are having is due to incompatability - the program is too old to run on Windows 10 correctly.

However you can download the free version from Magix and use the MX serial number to get most of the features that MX has, you must download and install these once the product is activated - they should be under the Downloads tab.

Some Soundpools may be missing as they have been dropped or merged into other collections, and the old SpacePad instrument no longer works in the new version of Music Maker.

If you have any further issues create a new topic and see this topic for guidelines on information required.
