"In Arranger" button on burn page does nothig....help?!

Hi, I have a Windows 7 64-bit OS and am running MAGIX Movie Edit Pro 16. I have used MAGIX for some time, including earlier releases. I have been trying to change the background music on one of the animated templates that came with the software.

Everything I've read on this site says to click the "In Arranger" button (w/ the wrench on it) in the burn interface. It should then open the template in an arranger window where I can add my own sound. Unfortunately, when I click the button........nothing happens. No error message, no CPU activity, nothing at all.

I uninstalled/re-installed the software and tried again - the button wasn't even there! Then I did an online software update and the button re-appeared.............and still did absolutely nothing!

Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong or what I need to change/upgrade/buy to get this functionality?

Thanks in advance for the help!

Hi

The functionality is definitely there in MEP 16. Premium version - if you have the Basic then it may not be available.

Uninstalling / re-installing achieves very little if you do not use the Magix cleaner tool, available here, in between the two operations.

However before you go doing this again try doing a program reset  - File, Settings, Reset program settings to default

You will certainly benefit from upgrading to MEP 2013 as it handle HD video better and has other benefits as well - get the Premium version if you do.

Hi

. . . .The version I have was the $50 one from Best Buy, not the MX - which is what appears to be the premium version . . .

Not exactly - you have Movie Edit Pro 16 which version you have is not indicated.

MEP comes in three variants Basic, Plus and Premium and the features you get and codec licences included vary from variant to variant - I always recommend getting the Premium version as eveything is include except for specific codec licences, which you will probably never use, have to be paid for

MX is equivalent to version 18, MEP 2013 is equivalent to version 19.  Your version (16) is already 3 behind the current one.  Note that the versionng vs name numbering is out of step ie you have MEP 16 yet the 'version' number is 9. . . ..  I prefer to think of the 'version' number as the 'Build' number

Hi,

With a very small project loaded that exhibits the problem, use File > Backup copy > Copy project and media into folder... as shown here. Zip it up and upload it  so that we can try to reproduce.

BTW, is this with every template? I have about 45 in MEP 16 Plus and quickly tried half a dozen of them, all displaying the correct Arranger > Edit window. But as you'll see from using the Search tool with 'dvd template' or similar, there are bugs and other quirks in MEP's DVD menu features which apply in some cases to specific templates.

Hi,

I cannot be sure what you mean by "animated templates"  are you talking about the "Movie Templates" or something else.  I take a pretty simple approach to editing. Why would you even worry about the wrench icon or the arranger, why not just switch to the timeline and find the audio you don't want, delete it and replace it with what you do want, then go to the burn tab. Or am I missing something?  I have used the Movie Templates probably hundreds of times and never wanted to keep the audio that comes with them, but I can honestely say that I have never used the arranger nor have I ever used a wrench icon with MEP. I use Movie Edit Pro MX Premium version 11.0.5.0

Hi George

He is referring to the Disc animated menu templates in the Burn section. These can be edited (sound or picture) in a separate "Arranger" (=Timeline).

The main Timeline, Storyboard, etc area is also referred to as "The Arranger" in Magix speak.
