It might be a simple question i think.
How can i import a Midi file from a other source, like a samplepack by Cymatics or royalty free stuff which include Midi files, into the Music Maker or Samplitude music studio and playing it with a Midi-Keyboard?
Did i need a special plug-in or preset/instrument ?

Hi

. . . .  can i import a Midi file from a other source. . . . Did i need a special plug-in or preset/instrument ? . . .

Yes and no there is no special plugin or preset needed.

Drag the MIDI file direct onto the timeline.

Note: if the midi file contains multiple channels and you want to edit these eg change instruments, then they need separating out onto individual tracks.

To do this:

  1. Double click the MIDI file once imported into MMM to open the MIDI editor
  2. Select Options, MID channel filter and select the all the channels except the one you need
  3. Select Options, Hide filtered MIDI data
  4. Add the same MIDI file to the next track and repeat steps 1 - 3.
  5. Repeat steps 1-4 until you have no data in the visible channel.

You should end up with something like this:
