Hi

Importing and using LUTS is discussed in this topic - it is a little long, however should also give some background history. and is also relevant for VPX.

For the actual installation see this comment - the only difference between MEP and VPX is that the folders mentioned are already exist for VPX

Thank you. I have tried to make this work, but when I open Magix within Public Documents, the only file present is a manual. There is absolutely nothing else. So I cannot even begin the recommended procedure. Any advice?

@MCK

Hi

. . . . Magix within Public Documents, the only file present is a manual. . . . .

That would suggest you are looking in the wrong location ie c:\Users\username where 'username' is your logon name.

You should be looking in

C:\Users\Public\Documents\MAGIX\Common\Videocontent\Video Pro X\VideoEffects

where you will see the top level LUTPresets folder

Hello John. Alas, C:\Users\Public\Documents\MAGIX\Common\Videocontent\Video Pro X\VideoEffects is exactly where I am looking. I have tried several times, just in case, but the result is the same. Within MAGIX, there is no Common folder. It goes straight to Video Pro X, then documentation, then the manual. Am I doing something wrong?

johnebaker wrote on 12/31/2020, 2:21 PM

@MCK

Hi

. . . .  Am I doing something wrong? . . . .

I do not think so, unless you have done a custom install and changed the folder paths where the program and Extra Content goes

or

not downloaded and installed all the Extra Content ie Templates, Effects, etc.

In which case go to Help, Install Extra content.

Should have asked this earlier which version of VPX are you using?

@MCK

Hi

. . . . version 15.0.4.176 . . . .

This must be VPX 8, which explains why you have nothing in the folders - LUTs are in a different location and selected differently in older versions of VPX.

Under Effects, Brightness and Contrast, Load Lookup Table the program is looking for the LUTs to be in :-

C:\ProgramData\MAGIX\Video_Pro_X8

I would suggest you create the folders LUTPreset and subfolders as detailed in the topic I linked to above and put your LUTs there.

This does assume that the LUTs you have acquired are .cube LUTs.

Hi John. I have navigated to C:\ProgramData\MAGIX\Video_Pro_X8 and ended up with the attached view. Is this what you would expect? No sign of Effects, Brightness and Contrast, Load Lookup Table.

MCK wrote on 12/31/2020, 7:25 PM

I have followed the instructions, but it hasn't worked. No sign of LUTs within VPX8. Is it significant that C:\ProgramData\MAGIX\Video_Pro_X8 there is both Video Pro X and Video Pro X8. The former leads to a folder named simply 8 and then a host of folders

johnebaker wrote on 1/1/2021, 7:05 PM

@MCK

Hi

I have tested the LUTs I have, by placing them in the folder location, as I described above, and they work fine in VPX 8 as shown below.

Do the LUT files have the file extension .cube as shown in the second image above?

Hello John. Happy New Year to you and to all forum users.
I have placed the LUTs in the folder as shown above. My next question is: how do I access them within VPX8?

Mark

. . . . how do I access them within VPX8 . . . .

It's in the second paragraph of my last but one comment above, and you can see the button in the middle image of the 3 I posted above to the right od the exploerer dialog that is open.
