Importing and using MP3 files and Music Maker Jam files

James.2018 wrote on 6/20/2018, 3:39 PM

Hello,

I am using the free version of Music Maker and I am trying to use samples in MP3 format. I am also trying to use recordings from Music Maker Jam. However I cant find any way import MP3 files and whenever I attempt to use Music Maker Jam files I get a notice saying the file is corrupted or the wrong type (I have tried several different so I do not believe they are all corrupted).

Hi

The free version, as installed, does not support all audio file formats - look in the Store for the "More Tracks and Formats" pack

Hello John,

Thank you so much for your help. I was curious if you could be more specific for what I am looking for in the store. I got 45 different products when looking for "More Tracks and Formats". Also I was wondering if you could tell me what files it will except as is. Thank you again.

Hi

When in the Store, if you select the option circled in the image below you can narrow down the list.

When I do this there is only one More tracks and features and if you click on it, it expands to tell you what features are there as is also shown in the image.

Hello John,

I have found the "More Tracks and Features". Am I correct that by buying this it will allow me to import any mp3 file into Music Maker and use it?

Hi

. . . . . it will allow me to import any mp3 file into Music Maker and use it . . . . .

Yes - the third item in the list of features is MP3 support which allows you to import mp3 files.

. . . . any mp3 . . . .

The word any has to be qualified - if you intend to create a piece of music incorporating copyrighted music, from a CD, the Internet etc., and intend the final piece to be publicly 'broadcast' eg upload to the Internet, then you need permission from the copyright owner or it must be a mp3 with a Creative Commons licence that allows copyright free use.

Similarly if the final piece is intended for commercial use and it incorporates any of the Soundpool loops, you need the appropriate licences for any loops/soundpool used - these are available from Producer Planet
