Import as PAL or NTSC ?

I have a PAL camera but will be watching my video on an NTSC television which cannot understand the PAL format. My question is:

Is it better to import the AVI from the camera in PAL format and convert it later on the PC or should I just import in NTSC? Which will give the best quality?

I do not have authority on this, but just from my idea of what I know...

PAL as a frame rate of 25

NTSC has a frame rate of 29.97

I would suggest staying PAL so all your edits are native to the format that the video was captured or recorded in, and then export to the format you want. At least in my mind, that is logical.
