Hi

Is the image object in the same region as that in your other question about problems rendering?

Do the handles disappear when you select another object or change from Size/Position effect to another effect?

Hi John

Nice to hear from you.

The rendering is a seperate issue

The second question is something I came across when I was trying it out.

Can you talk me through the procces for rewndering please so I can check if I'm doing it right.

I load the butterfly image onto my main video picture then resize it but the handles wont go away

Hi Michael

The procedure you are using for rendering a complex part of the timeline to enable smooth preview is correct - I tested this before my post to check that it was OK with my MEP 2013, which it was.

When I click another object after resizing or pick a different effect option the handles do disappear.

Is your MEP patched to the latest update? Mine is at  12.0.3.4 UDC2

Michael,

It may just be my project but after the handle are gone, selecting the effects and clicking in the preview window may cause your overlay to go smaller without waning. It seems that doing a click drag is better. The handles re-appear and you can make any necessary adjustments..

Carl

Thank you Carl got it sorted.

When you click on the object it comes up on the screen with the handles for resizing, but what you have to do is go into the track where the object is and click on it and the handles go off.

Easy when you know how!

Thanks again

Michael

I wish that MEP haf some sort of timer when you are rendering so you have some idea when it's going to finish.

The red line could slowly turn green from left to right and have a small digital time clock on it or somthing,

Sometimes it's like waiting for paint to dry.

In File Edit Pro they have a blue line at the bottom of the screen that tells you how long it's going to take.

Anyway just thought I would get that off my chest.

Michael,

Just guessing... A file management program can relatively quickly find out (before it starts its actual work) what files are present and their sizes as Windows has that information available from system calls eg 'FindNextFile' and 'GetFileSize'. http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa364232(v=vs.85).aspx.

MEP can't guess what lies ahead of the point currently being rendered. It might be several GB of video that only has to be copied (already in output format) or there may be big sections with a dozen of more active tracks and a lot of complex effects. I'd say pre-calculation to give an accurate progress indication would make the entire job even longer,

Rendering can unavoidably take a long time -- that's why there is an option to turn off the computer when finished. Let the paint dry while you sleep! And of course shut down all unnecessary programs while MEP is doing its thing.

Carl
