Message:

Can’t open waveform input device ‘Sigma Tel Audio’ !

(The specified format is not supported or cannot be translated. Use the Capabilities function to determine the supported formats.)

Change driver resolution to 16 Bit or switch driver system to WDM compatible in system options.

BTW, My computer is a Dell XPS M1710 laptop

What format are you trying to play... is it MIDI?

Sigma Tel Audio is not really a sound card. It is a sound chip, and it may not be full duplex, you will have to find out from Dell.

What program are you running by the way?

Hi,

After reading your question I guess you want to say,

On Magix Music maker 16 or Premium on the arranger when you try to play you can not and you get a message as you said.

I wish you should have told about

Windows, xp, vista or 7

Software name and version, Magix Music Maker 16 or 16 Premium or any other Music software.

and what you were trying to do, this kind of information help those who want to answer your question in best way.

As much information is not give, I assume you use MMM 16 or 16 Premium, like me you do got Dell and same Sigmatel, to me when I was using Sigmatel sound card it did not give me any problem therefore, I think it is your Magix Music Maker settings which need some help.

I will be adding screen shot in case if that does not appear here (some times) refer this text:

When MMM 16 or MMM 16 Premium is open, click "Y" on Keyboard that will open Program settings, click on Audio/Midi tab look at left choose Driver slelection. I think when I used Sigmatel I was using this function.

But now I have Tascam audio interface therefore changed to ASIO driver.

After doing above setting also open Control Panel of pc then SOUND, double click on it, and check if the proper device is selected here in Play and also in Recording in your case Sigmatel High Defination audio codec if not put cursor on the desired item then choose click ok, do same for recording. Exit Sound. When you do setting here it is better if Magix Music Maker is off.

Hope this answer will help you. Other wise in Magix setting as per image above try changes and see, what ever you do you have to check settings in Control Panel/Sound/Play and Recording ok.

(in case of any spell mistake sorry)

Thank you

Thank you both for your input. I am using 'Simplitude Music Studio 15'.

I have little music software experience & expected to hear notes as I play them. Instead I can only reveiw my work by eporting to a WAV file & playing that. This cannot be how it should work, so I must have compatibility issues....lol

I will get it right in the end & perhaps sooner with your kind help. Just consider that you are dealing with a 'know nothing idiot' & we won't go far wrong......ho hum.

Regards

Mobby.

Many thanks to you both. With the information you gave me & a dollop of good luck I can now play straight from the screen. I hope that is one problem sorted

Cheers

Mobby.
