Ideas for changing the lighting of a party scene?

In my movie there is a party scene.

I was wondering if there is any effect to make it seem like the room is flashing colours? Or anyting to make it seem more like a party instead of a bunch of people in a room with the curtains closed.

I've tried simply tinting the footage different colours and changing it every few seconds but that's not really what I was looking for.

It's a bit hard to explain but basically I'm asking for any creative suggestions at all, I know changing the lighting after the video has been shot is not the best way to do it, but it's just for fun anyway.

I use MAGIX Movie Edit Pro 17 Plus

Thanks!!

I tried adding effects through the Plug-Ins option (specifically the Hue-changing one) but it made my video really pixelated. I was wondering where I could find a video loop similar to the one in John's example?

Hi

Do you mean something like this

this is the original background image

to which I added a flashing party lights video loop - here  is how it was laid out on the timeline

Note the important thing was to set the Video Effects, Chroma key setting on the lights video clip to Mix

1bib,

Check also under 'Help' >> 'Install extra programs' or 'Download video effects plugins...'. as your 'Plus' version should offer some options IIRC. Possibly try tiny bits of 'Effects' >> 'Video effects' >> Distortions' >> 'Whirlpool, or 'Art filter' >> 'Substitution', though they might be too psychedelic.

ADDED: John's suggestion (He often posts while I'm typing!) looks great. I'd suggest adding some random movement of the color fields as well.

Carl
