ID3 tag request before playing Mp3s

Eleyan wrote on 9/23/2015, 4:27 AM

Magix is rejecting Mp3s due to an ID3 request error.

I have updated my computer, and this is a fresh install.  Lenovo R400, 3Gig Ram, 500Gig HD Win7 64bit

I recorded my vocal in Audacity and exported it as Mp3, now first time ever, Magix brings up an ID3 error.

I had to record the vocal in audacity then save as an Mp3 because Magix low latency driver did not work for me.

This is my first planned recording session using Magix this year and it was a total failure.

Hi

I suspect this in an Audacity issue and it is not writing the ID3 tags (metadata) correctly or, if you are adding tags, then you are using illegal characters eg symbols, apostrophes etc which are not allowed.

Tag data should be restricted to Text and numbers to avoid issues

If you do not need the tags then to prevent the Audacity Metadata Editor appearing at export time, click Edit, Preferences, then the Import / Export tab, and in the When exporting tracks section, uncheck Show Metadata Editor prior to export step

And, try using ASIO4All as the driver - low latency. Available for free on the internet.

Thank you both, for your responses,  before checking in on your helpful answers, in Audacity I combined each stereo track to mono, then exported as .WAV  and that was one solution.    I may try loading up ASIO4ALL as well, but in general I am happy to save as .WAV as a workaround.

I am having more fun with Magix Music Maker since I upgraded my computer and can now  (still with a few glitches) record, build and edit an entire song from start to finish.  In the past I couldn't get past the first verse+chorus before it would freeze and carry on.  So, yay.    I started and completed 2 songs in 4 days last week, which makes me very happy.  One of these is going to the recording studio in the next two weeks.

Thank you for your replies.

If it isn't broke and it isn't working, maybe it doesn't exist.

Hi,

Glad you have it sorted out. I still suggest that you install ASIO4All and use it as the driver in Program settings. It will eliminate any noticeable latency during recording.

Also, watch out for Windows 10 which may cause problems. If you upgrade to W10, look at the tutorial on this under Tutorials tab.
