I want to record my voice via a microphone onto my music maker 15

If I want to record my voice via a microphone onto Magix music maker 15. Can I plug it into a socket at the front of my computer using a normal jack (like headphones) or does it have to be put into a usb. I am about to buy a microphone but do not know whether to buy one with a usb or jack.

You can use either actually.

Microphones with the 1/4" mono jack can be plugged into the red/pink port of the computer and you just need to make sure Windows is setup to record from the microphone (Changing that setting is specific to the Windows operating system you are using).

Windows by default uses Microphone as the preferred recording device.

In the Music Maker program, if you press to record, you just need to make sure that when you monitor the levels, you do not go into the red for the peak meter... Red means you are clipping, and that could cause the audio to cut or distort because the levels are too high, you should adjust that accordingly.

With a USB microphone, you need to make sure that in the Music Maker program one you press record that the device you are recording from states it is the USB device. I have a USB Logitech microphone, and when I view the device info in Music Maker; it states Logitech headphone/mic USB, therefore I know that is where the program will record from.
