I want to combine a video of my son playing guitar and playing drums to the same song to appear he is playing both parts. Kind of like a music video. I can't wrap my brain around how to do this. I am using Magix movie edit pro 2013
Assuming MEP is the Plus or Premium version, there are 2 ways of doing this - which you choose depends on how good the audio synchronisation of the two videos is. If they were recorded with the same camera and you can use one of the clips sound track for the entire length of the video then this will be easier.
Multi cam editing -
See the installed PDF manual and look at tutorials on the Internet on the subject of Multi cam editing in Movie Edit Pro or Video Pro X - the principles are the same.
Manual editing -
Put the two movies on to two tracks and align the audio as best as possible.
If you use the audio from one video for the entire run time makes sure this is on track 1 and the other video is on track 2.
It helps if you have the audio with the waveform displayed for aligning and then mute the audio on the second track.
You need only edit the second track to cut out and delete the sections where you want track 1 to appear.
Method 2 is my preferred workflow method.
If the audio has been recorded seperately then method 2 would be my preferred because it may be necessary to make edits in track 1 to sync with the audio track.
If you have the Basic version of MEP the option 2 is the only one you can use.
