I NEED GOOD INSTRUMENTS!!

elias-breidenbach wrote on 8/19/2018, 7:56 PM

Hello everyone.

As a fellow composer, I now (more than ever) understand how important good instruments are... because mine are pretty terrible. I compose in a predominantly orchestral style, so does anyone have any good examples of close-to-real-sounding orchestral instruments I can use? I am specifically in need of brass instruments because I already have Magix's strings ensamble, but strings recommendations would still be appreciated. I have been looking for a few months, now, but haven't really settled on anything, yet. I tried to use the Orchestral Companion by Sonivox, but MMM wouldn't read it. I have since uninstalled and been refunded for it, so that would not be a very good option for me.

I look forward to your feedback!!

Thank you for your time.

I recently did a post in this forum , on the best sounding Premium instruments that Magix has .

this is the title of the other post , to search for :

"add-on  Premium synth Instruments  ,  opinion  FYI"

go to Magix web site : https://www.producerplanet.com/us and look at the 12 Independence offerings .

Independence instruments support ( VST32 and VST64 ) bit interfaces . ( use VST32 for Music Maker )

Pop Brass is Sections only , No solo . see my other post for additional comments .

Independence has Brass offerings , not sure if they do Solo . I think the sax's can do solo , but not sure .

the other option is to look at Vienna Symphonic Library , supposedly , they support VST . Music Maker will require VST32 bit . Vienna has solo brass . some of their Instruments are available separately .

look at :

https://www.producerplanet.com/us , to look at the 12 Magix Independence offerings VST32 and VST64

https://www.vsl.co.at , to look at Vienna VST Instruments

note : Vienna has a new style URL , vsl is vienna symphonic library

if you want to get away from VST , then look at native-instruments https://www.native-instruments.com

native-instruments only work inside of their Shell\Sampler ( No external VST support )

as a last ditch effort , look at : https://fablesounds.com/broadway-big-band/

from what I have listened to , from demo songs , Vienna has the Best sounding instruments . Vienna can also be the most expensive . however , getting a few solo instruments can be done .if you go full tilt , then get Vienna Strings and Vienna Brass .

I don't know all the prices , but here is a sample listing :

Independence , from about 65 , to 130 ( individual instruments ) , to 330 full Pro 70 gig library

native instruments Komplete 11 600 ( 159 gig library ) or 1200 ( Ultimate 500 gig library )

fable 200 to 2,000 ( max package ) ( No strings )

Vienna anywhere from less then 100 to about 15,000 ( max package , yeah ,...3 zeros )

( Vienna has that new Yamaha piano , it is about 80 gig bytes , just for one piano ! )

Magix's Independence Library , the Instruments all come inside of a Generic "Sampler" a Host is still needed , such as Music Maker or Samplitude . this Sampler from Independence Pro actually allows someone to build their own Instrument . I have never done it . you would need to record your own notes , study mic techniques too . import your wav audio , and the Sampler will construct it into an Instrument , so I have read .

Orchestral Ensemble contains Strings , Percussion , Woodwinds ( clarinets flutes ) , brass ( trumps , trombones , tuba ) but NO solo . depending on which present is selected , the high notes might play flutes or high strings . lower notes might play trombones or tubes . it is kind of an All-in-One synthesizer .

sometimes , "Pop Brass" can enhance the brass sounds of Orchestral Ensemble .

Vienna's solo concert trumpet is impressive ( talk to Vienna to verify that VST will work with Music Maker )

native-instruments has ala-cart offerings too . Brass Pro , Strings , each are about 300 . these only work inside of native-instrument's application program .

staying with Magix , go to https://www.producerplanet.com to look at the 12 Independence offerings ,...ALL are VST .

I am just looking for solo trumpets, horns, and trombones for now. Will the Independence sampler provide that?

@elias-breidenbach

Hi,

Which version of MMM do you have? And do you have Plus or Premium? Or just the free version?

Do you have Orchestral Brass under Vita?
