If you think the Catooh effects are expensive, you should check out the prices from some of the stock video firms such as Fotolia.  About $70.00 for a HD 720 clip.  I would stick with the Catooh product if you think it will work for you.

I buy this stuff all the time for client videos and I always check Catooh first.  If they have the effect I want, I always buy it there because their prices are very reasonable and their images, backgrounds and videos are of really good quality.  The only problem I have with Catooh is that their inventory is not very large.

Agree entirely with George on pricing.

You do not say what you want the effect for eg do you want to transition from one shot to another through a flame effect - in MEP there is a fade called Fire for transitions.

There are also many free effects loops available on the Internet.
