I'm having Recording/Tracking problems

I'm using music studio 12 deluxe.Why is my first track being recorded to my second track?I'm in playback while record but the first track records to the second track which makes impossible to edit the second track.The track monitor shows only track 2 is armed for recording,but still track 1 is recorded.How do I fix this?

Hi,
What are you using to record? Sound Card or Interface? Most often a sound card will be set in the Windows mixer for "Stereo mix" or "What you hear" - this will record everything going in and out of our sound card; especially if you're using playback while recording. It will record your first track mixed with your new track.

I strongly suggest to everyone DON'T record using "stereo mix" or "what you hear" Go to your Windows Sound Card mixer and change this to line-in.

That should fix your problem.
