I've never been asked for my 'computer name' for any Magix activation or download. The usual request is the name you used when you registered your product eg your e-mail address. You say you have installed but it is not clear if you have registered.

Computer ID would be a alpha-numeric code

Hi,

If you really just bought MEP 17, you need to know that you have purchase old software.  MEP17 was replaced by MEP18 which has now been replaced by MEP2013.

The name of your laptop should have nothing to do with product acivation.  You really need to sign in to the account that you have set up with Magix and sort it out from there.  If you bought the software off the shelf or on ebay or somewhere else, provided you have purchased a valid product, set up a account with Magix and register it using your account name and password and the serial number of the product.

Good Luck,

George

Hi,

Rather than worry about this and wait for a response from someone who may understand what you want to do, because I certainly don't from what you have posted, (and I have been doing this for many years) why not just download the free Any Video Converter and convert pretty much any valid video format to any other valid video format.  I don't use MEP to convert anything, ever.

You can download it here  http://www.any-video-converter.com/products/for_video_free/

Just make sure you don't download any tool bars or any other "free software" when you decide.

Good Luck,

George

Hi

Activation of the codecs not installed as standard depends on which version of MEP 17 you bought ie Standard, Plus or Premium

To activate, for example, the mp4 codec you can drag an mp4 file onto the timeline.  If the codec is not installed, depending on which version of MEP you have, one of two things will happen:

a    A dialog box will pop up asking you to activate the codec on-line - you follow this through and it should be automatically activated.

or

b    A dialog box will pop up saying you have to purchase the codec - again follow this through and make the necessary payment and get the codec activated.

If you are asked for account details it will be the account you registered the software after first install.

HTH

John
